Havre-Saint-Pierre : Ten ships to celebrate 10 years of cruise port activities
On October 10th, Havre Saint-Pierre culminated a tenth season of cruise port activities with visits
by a grand total of ten cruise ships, confirming the 2018 cruise season as the best in the past ten
years. Since 2008, Havre Saint-Pierre has welcomed into port the ships of 17 different cruise lines
for an aggregate total of some 40 000 passengers and crew. Of the ships having scheduled
stopovers, a number are operated by cruise lines ranked among the most luxurious in the world,
proof positive of an offer of substance by the smallest of the Saint Lawrence ports of call.
On the occasion of the destination’s 10th anniversary, Havre Saint-Pierre shattered a number of
records, including that of the largest ship welcomed to date. Indeed, the Aida Vita, transporting
1266 passengers and 402 crew members, dropped anchor at Havre Saint-Pierre not once but twice
midway into the summer season. This year, the port also welcomed ? for the first time ever ?
Seabourn’s Quest, Silversea’s Silver Wind and Silver Cloud, as well as Hurtigruten’s MS Fram. The
latter launched 2018 activities on May 6th, thereby initiating the longest cruise season in ten years.
In total, 5931 cruise passengers and 2790 crew members stopped into port at Havre Saint-Pierre,
making for the best season in the past 10 years.
Future ripe with promise
Although the 2018 season proved the busiest to date, bookings for 2019 point to even superior
results with 14 ship stopovers already confirmed, including three by the Aida Vita.
