NAKAUINANU - The port of call of Sept-Îles proposes a unique cultural experience with the meeting of two nations, where the past is conjugated in the present. The rich history of the Innu Community just as that of the population of Sept-Îles, is unveiled to you in all of its splendour... in the midst of a landscape that will take your breath away.

Our ports of call offer an assortment of activities to suit all tastes. We have selected a few that will definitely please you. To view the complete list of activities offered at each port of call, please consult the tourist information.

  • Rail and River
    Rail and River

    Offer yourself a train ride and discover the majestic Moisie River; a salmon river of international renown. You will be won over by the unforgettable scenery; nature in its purest state! Furthermore, this journey will also be an introduction the the customs of the Innu Nation.

  • Archipel des Sept-Îles - Archipelago
    Archipel des Sept-Îles - Archipelago The traditional Virée des îles (Tour of the Islands) is enhanced by an interpretation of the region's history, economy, culture and social life. Observe whales and other marine mammals and observe the bird sanctuary on Corossol Island. Biology excursions focusing on crustaceans and molluscs are also offered. Morning and evening cruises, diving, snorkelling, scuba diving, kayak rentals. A three-hour guided excursion / Three excursions daily.

  • Musée Shaputuan - Museum

    In the warm and typically welcoming atmosphere of the Innu, the staff members enthusiastically share their knowledge of traditional culture. The exhibit, presented in the symbolic shape of a circle, represents Innu life throughout the seasons. The heritage of the Ancients is brought to life through in words, song and dance.

  • Rivière aux Rochers, Salmon Interpretation Centre

    Rivière aux Rochers, Salmon Interpretation Centre

    Located in the heart of the town of Port-Cartier, la Rivière aux Rochers is one of the outstanding attractions the municipality has to offer. A base for salmon fishers, the pavilion is also an interpretation centre that explains how human interventions  can benefit the salmon run and thus contribute to the inscrease in numbers.  All the secrets about the "king of the river" are revealed here and numerous other activities are offered: guided tours, observation of the salmon swimming upstream, and sports fishermen in action, as well as thematic exhibitions.

  • Vieux poste de Sept-Îles - Old Trading Post

    Vieux poste de Sept-Îles - Old Trading Post

    The history of this trading post dates back to around 1676 when it was manage by a French commercial society, of which the famous explorer Louis Jolliet was a member. The site's buildings were rebuilt in 1967. The general store, observation tower, chapel, home and the grounds offer a varied interpretive program consisting of shows, exhibits, archaeology, history and Innu culture.

  • Grande Basque Island
    Grande Basque Island A recreational and tourism centre offering 11 km of walking trails, six beautiful beaches. Interpretation activities, marine trough, guided tours, discovery rally, thematic activities (mycology, ornithology, geology).

  • Musée régional de la Côte-Nord - Regrional Museum

    Musée régional de la Côte-Nord - Regrional Museum This permanent exhibit invites you to discover 8000 years of North-Shore history. All of the presentations provide a glimpse into the courage, tenacity and pride of the local inhabitants. The Boutique Ô Muses: Works of art and original crafts are both on display and for sale.

    From appetizer to dessert, all of the flavours of the North Shore are found on our tables-seafood, fish, grilled dishes, local specialties-there is something for everyone!
  • Shopping  

    Two shopping centres are located in the downtown area. In addition, local boutiques are no more than five minutes from the port.

  • Airport  
    Directions from the port

    The regional airport is located 15 km from the port and offers direct flights to Montréal and Québec City. Three carriers also offer helicopter excursions.
