With a surface area of 1 245 km2,
the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park has the distinctive feature of being
jointly managed by Parks Canada and Parcs Québec. It is also unique because it
is the first park in Québec
to protect and showcase an admirable and exclusively
marine environment. In all,
more than fifteen species of marine mammals have
been reported, including the St. Lawrence
beluga, a protected species. The park
can be explored via
several sites, interpretation centres or cruise companies,
all of which are found in the territory bordering the park.
