Québec is famous for its breathtaking landscapes, but increasingly it is also earning a reputation as one of North America's most exciting culinary destinations. Across the province, talented chefs are transforming local ingredients into unforgettable dining experiences.
That reputation received international recognition with the arrival of the Michelin Guide Québec. In 2026, the province boasts 13 Michelin-starred restaurants, including Tanière³ in Québec City, which retained its prestigious Two Michelin Stars, the highest distinction currently awarded in the province.
Among the new Michelin Stars awarded in 2026 is Le Clan in Québec City, where chef Stéphane Modat celebrates Québec terroir through game meats, boreal ingredients and regional traditions. In Montréal, Hoogan et Beaufort earned acclaim for its wood-fire cooking, while Sushi Nishinokaze impressed inspectors with its refined Japanese cuisine. In the Mauricie region, Auberge Saint-Mathieu was recognized for its innovative, locally inspired cuisine rooted in the surrounding forest landscape.
Several renowned restaurants also maintained their Michelin status, including Légende, ARVI, Laurie Raphaël, Kebec Club Privé, Mastard, Sabayon, and Jérôme Ferrer – Europea.
What makes Québec's culinary scene so special? Its strong connection to place. Many chefs work directly with local farmers, fishers, foragers and artisans to showcase the flavours of the St. Lawrence River, the boreal forest and the province's diverse regions. Michelin inspectors highlighted this locavore philosophy as one of Québec's defining strengths.
During your next stop along the St. Lawrence, consider treating yourself to an exceptional meal. In Québec, dining is more than dinner—it's a journey through culture, nature and creativity.
